Who in my organisation needs to know about the SCA?
If you have an environmental or sustainability person in your team, they will probably be best placed to take the initial lead. If not, then an appropriate senior manager. Over time the SCA will become increasingly important to your commercial & procurement teams.
What will it cost?
A nominal fee of €360 per year will apply regardless of how many of the listed companies you work with.
Will the SCA be mandatory?
The SCA will become mandatory on a progressive basis
What is the benefit of the SCA to Subcontractors & Suppliers?
There will be less repetition, more clarity, a consistent approach across contractors, and lower admin costs.
Will supporting documents be required?
Yes, but only where relevant to your company's sustainability journey.
Will this replace existing requirements?
Over time, the intention is to reduce duplication across contractors, but this will be phased, so please bear with us.
Will we need to complete other sustainability questionnaires?
The aim is the opposite, to reduce the number of questionnaires by having one shared approach.
When will the SCA be rolled out?
The rollout will commence in the middle of 2026 on a phased basis.
How will the SCA be used?
The SCA is a baseline and improvement tool to assess your sustainability progress, not a pass/fail system.
Who is leading the Sustainability Common Assessment (SCA)?
The SCA is being led by a group of ‘Founding Partners’ that includes Sisk, BAM, John Paul Construction, Collen, Walls, Cairn, JJ Rhatigan and Ballymore, working together with Supplyo.
